The Wonderful 101: Remastered Success could trigger a continuation

Director Hideki Kamiya already has some ideas.

The wonderful 101 is one of the most unique games of Platinum Games, but unfortunately also belongs to the least esteemed. When it came out on the Wii u, it was a great praise for the game, but it was a commercial flop for the developer and the Publisher Nintendo. This mistake would ultimately lead Platinum to the next the Wonderful 101: Remastered , which luckily with her crowdfunding campaign had much success.

And should the game have a similar success even after his publication, this could cause Platinum to continue a sequel. In an interview with Nintendo Everything, The wonderful 101 creative director Hideki Kamiya said that he had a sequel before the appearance of the game on the Wii U ideas for a continuation, but these ideas had to be put on ice when the game did not sell well - Something he hopes to change if the Remaster turns out to be successful.

When we made the Wii u-original, I had great hopes for the game before his publication, said Kamiya. I knew we ve made a really incredible game, so I was confident that many people would play it and it would be a great success. I dreamed of left and right - I had ideas like: Oh, what about It, if we would take a continuation in which Wonder Blue is the leader? All these creative and exciting ideas fined and then the game was released and I saw the numbers and said, Wait, what?! So I hope, that I can have these aspirations again in the future.

Studio boss Atsushi Inaba also spoke about a possible follow-up, was open to the idea, but admitted that this may not be possible without the support of the fans of the property.

With regard to a continuation or so we can not do any if there are no fans of the series at all, said Inaba. If the fans support this and the things run really well The wonderful 101 then I would say that it s pretty natural, that we want to make another game in the series.

At the moment, of course, everything is hypothetical, but the way the Kickstarter campaign is for the upcoming Remaster, there is a lot of hope that the game itself will achieve some successes. If there is a continuation, it will be interesting to see what it starts. The property is located in the joint possession of Nintendo, who has approved only the release of the Remaster on PC and PS4, as Platinum would publish this itself. It would be interesting to see if the two could also agree on something similar for a continuation.

He Wonderful 101: Remastered is available in April for the Nintendo Switch, P4 and PC. It will be playable later this month at Pax East.
